The Sacred Self is excited to be holding our *official introduction to the Cornish area, though we have been here since July of 2019.  We are holding this event offsite to accommodate a larger crowd at the Hiram Cultural Center, 8 Hancock Ave in Hiram on Saturday, March 4th from 9am-1pm.

Our special guest speaker will be Michael Mullin ATC, PTA, PRC of Integrative Rehab Training in Falmouth, who will be presenting “Understanding Breathing: How Can Something So Basic Be So Misunderstood”.  Michael Mullin is a clinically based athletic trainer with over 30 years of experience in training and rehabilitation. He is the Owner/Clinician of Integrative Rehab Training LLC and has provided consultation, treatment and/or presentations to the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL teams, and many other recognized athletes and organizations.  Here is a link to his very impressive bio! Michael J. Mullin — Integrative Rehab Training (mjmatc.com)

Ursula Vollkommer-Haley, a 30 year Certified Athletic Trainer is one of our newest practitioners to join the center in Cornish and she has studied with Michael Mullin at his facility over 3 decades as an Athletic Trainer. Ursula connected us to Michael and we are so excited that has the time to speak at our event as this work can be a gamechanger for those living with chronic pain.

The morning will begin by featuring an introduction to The Sacred Self and a brief overview of the practitioners and various healing modalities offered. We currently have 16 practitioners working through both our Cornish and Norway locations in a wide variety of alternative healing modalities, and breathwork is a key factor in each one.

Afterwards, Michael Mullin will speak to the importance of breath and health and how to incorporate breathwork as a powerful addition to work you are doing with clients, or the work you are doing on your own at home.

"One of the most fundamental of all human functions--that is so easily taken for granted--is our breath.  More than just the critical inhalation and exhalation cycles of ventilation which drives the important respiratory element of gas exchange, it truly is interconnected with all of our system's functions.  Yet it continues to be one of the more underappreciated, under assessed and mismanaged aspects of human health.  This presentation will help to create an improved understanding of this complex, highly variable and asymmetrical mechanism, discuss ways to assess and provide intervention strategies, as well as educate on its application to things such as exercise, sleep and day-to-day life." Michael Mullin
