A look back at the Beginning of The Sacred Self

This is a post I stumbled across last week when I was searching for something else. This was my first *official on my current Facebook page, The Sacred Self, from August of 2019 - transitioning from the business facebook page I had "Diana Mains Massage + Polarity Therapist" since embarking on my massage therapy journey in mid 2014.

The Sacred Self in Cornish officially opened on July 1, 2019. I cannot even fathom that it's been 4 years already. I have continued to learn, change, grow, heal, fall, fail, and get back up to do it all over again several times since opening, and I am looking forward to continuing with you along for the ride. We are all in this together! Thank you so much for being a part of this journey.

Blessings,

Diana

A quote from Rumi on olive green and black tapestry that hangs inside the entrance to The Sacred Self.

Below is the first official post and one of the first photos after I started practicing in the center. If you cannot read the quote, its says:

Yesterday I was clever,

so I wanted to change

the world.

Today I am wise,

so I am changing myself.

For those of you who have loyally followed the link and liked this empty page, welcome! I promise you content soon, so much is happening so fast it's hard to keep up - especially with social media.

This has been an amazing journey, and it continues to be. What I have learned about health and healing is that is starts with becoming present in your own body - and that self care isn't selfish. Most of us were raised with the idea that it is selfish. But no one else is going to take care of your well-being like you, it's all about being accountable to ourselves. Looking back, I truly feel that something shifted for me when I had a white water rafting accident in the summer of 2013, while on an excursion with my children up in The Forks. It was a *little* scary.

Slowly through that healing process following the rafting accident.... all kinds of alternative healing Therapies came into my path, including my own massage therapy Journey. Turns out, Massage therapy is my passion! Other therapies that helped me include breathing, mindfullness, learning to be still, reflexology, polarity therapy, astrology, shamanic healing, yoga, Tai Chi, acupuncture, IET, meditation, dancing, sound and even actual exercise! Oh yeah, and I don't watch TV. Haven't for a good couple years. I can't tolerate seeing most of what's there now. As an empath it makes me feel literally sick.

It is not a path that I chose, nor has it been pretty, but it seemed to have chosen me and while it hasn't been easy I am grateful for everything that has made me aware of what I don't want in my life, in even more keenly aware of what I do want in my life. This huge shift has happened over a period of about 6 years now, but the last 8 months since my mother passed has opened a whole new magical journey.

I am excited to be able to share my dream with you, where I can continue what Mind Body Soul Holistic Wellness Center started in Cornish, and bringing together all of these various healing modalities, classes, workshops and self-care techniques to help you be your very best. It is exciting for me to be reconnecting with the Tribe of healers in our community again, and I look forward to introducing you to people who can help you be the very best you!

Welcome to The Sacred Self.
