Returning to Self Care after overwhelm and burnout

Updated: Jun 22, 2023

Hello! This is Diana. I wanted to share with you that even though I own the the center, it doesn't mean I *always put self care first - I am human afterall! Well, I recently found myself in a place of utter burnout and overwhelm. I have done a lousy job of taking care of myself as I fell back into old familiar routines of putting everyone and everything else first! I need to start my own self care regiman from the ground up again. I received two powerful healing sessions and I massage so far that I will share in a later post.

Meditation has worked its way back into my daily routine, as pushing water, resting, getting outside and grounding... and Kristen Bonfilio Scott, Clinical Herbalist of Bridges to Harmony has really set me up to start rebuilding my adrenals and my immune system.

The first thing I got from her was tea, and she recommend "Her Needs' and to drink this tea 2-3 times a day. I have also been making it in my to go Yeti (which traditionally holds coffee!) and sipping it throughout the day. I can't read all the ingredients to list here, so I'm gonna ask Kristen to speak to it. I am really enjoying it. She also recommended that I start eating these seaweed snacks for Iodine and Brazil Nuts for Selenium (no problem there - they happen to be my fave - the challenge is eating just....2?) These things I understand are good for my adrenals.

She also gave me a wicked cute bottle of You Got This! It's a beautiful Flower Essence made with Black Eyed Susans, infused with lapis and flourite....and a very special ingredient of Heron medicine, as she had a very unusual encounter with a Heron who dropped by her ome the day she was making it.

Flower Essences are subtle liquid extracts, general taken in oral form, which are used to address profound issues of emotional well-being, soul development and mind-body health. They can ben taken orally, added to a bath or misted on. Self awareness during use is key - journalling really helps as it starts to document the subtle changes, then huge leaps over time. If you use them in combination with affirmation and artistic expression, magic!

"Black Eyes Susan is for Recognition. Sometimes it is easier to bury hurt feelings and difficult emotions. Black-Eyed Susan gently helps you to wake up and recognize all aspects of yourself, event those you deem ugly or unworthy. Even your deepest, darkest truths need to be shown the light of love and honored as part of your human experience. Black Eyed Susan specifically may bring repressed emotions that need to be addressed to the surface. It's known to help those that can go into denial or avoidance. It's really used to give you the courage to do your shadow work, and can set you free."

Then, I started to come down with a cold (being self employed there is no paid time off!) - again Kristen hooked me up with two different bottles to support me. One is Elderberry Syrup, which I love to have on hand as it supports the Immune System, and the other is new to me, Pine and Thyme. This one is an anti viral and antibacterial blend. Loaded with Vitamin C.

I am feeling so much better than I was a couple of weeks ago. Miles to go...but I'm headed in the right direction.
